March Madness has met it’s Match…

Did I miss something here? Am I supposed to be buying knitting needles, yarns and patterns and crazily learning to knit before March 2007? Is Hanes going to quit mass producing socks?

They even have brackets for the competitors… sheesh! I know how a girl feels about March Madness. I, too, have been thoroughly confused by this male ritual. My BF never(well maybe not never BUT rarely if ever) watches basketball during any other time except the playoffs. He doesn’t follow the teams nor does he own a t-shirt, mug, socks, sweatshirt or team blanket that I know of. Yet, every March he becomes this raving lunatic, reading the sports pages, filling out brackets, calling me at work to print 20 more blank bracket sheets so he can work out different win-scenarios, eating take-out or tv dinners, glued to the tv and screaming like he personally owns the team… TOTALLY and COMPLETELY ignoring me except for the “huny, sweety, will you grab me a beer on your way back?”

Maybe the ladies who are Sock Madness have taken up this sock knitting thing to fill the companionship void left by the total obliviousness of their male counterparts. I, for one, will hit him where it hurts.

“huny, sweety, baby… I promise I will leave you alone and not beg you to turn the channel while you’re watching the Pacemakers and Spurs, if you’ll give me a little money to go shopping.”

$25… 50… 100… doesn’t matter to me. I was going shopping anyway just to get away from the stupid shit. Now I have his money to spend too! Momma gonna get a new pair of shoes AND a purse!

Anyway.. back to the sock madness… I am in a bit of a decision quandry… I just can’t decide if this is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of or something I can see myself doing just so I can sit on the couch beside the man while he is watching the game and yell at him…

“DAMMIT!! Quit jumping on the fuckin’ couch! You made me drop a stitch on that last round! “

Yesterday was the most exasperating day! All this running around to make everyone else happy is just killing me! I need a break… a day off… a massage, pedicure, manicure, facial… ooo facial! It’s been a long time since I had a facial. Do they still sell Woolite for a girl’s unmentionables?

Seriously though, I quit my job on Tuesday. Do you still call it quitting if you give the office 60 days notice and don’t have another job lined up after your last day? That sounds more like retirement to me. Ahh… yes.. I like that much better. I have retired from the world of office management. It was a crappy job. Nobody appreciated my legs. Maybe that was because I managed a bunch of dames. Take it from me… There’s no corporate ladder to climb in an office full of women. Just a bunch of bitchin’ and moaning and the screwing a girl gets isn’t the kind a girl really needs. Women are ruthless. I am going back to the world of men. Give me the good ol’ boys club anyday. I can sweet talk, bat my eyelashes and get the super sticky post-it notes that I love, all paid for on the company credit card, of course!
